The Tartan Ten Sailboat and Class Association
The Tartan Ten, a.k.a the T-10, is a 33' offshore one-design sailboat with strong class rules and a large class membership. Our active racing fleets are concentrated in the Great Lakes region and the North American Championship regatta regularly has 25 - 30 boats participating. It's a boat that is easy to both sail and race. The T-10 is a great day-sailing boat with a 9'6" cockpit and an inboard diesel engine. It's not limited to to day-sailing, however, with one of the largest one-designs sections in the 333-mile Chicago Mackinac race as well as boats competing in the PHRF classes in the Bayview Mackinac races. In 2001, the class approved the addition of the LS-10 sailboat to race one-design with the T-10. These new boats were molded and rigged from a classic T-10 to retain the sailing characteristics in order to race one-design with the existing T-10s.
The strength of the class is it's members. On the race course, the competition is fierce. As a one-design fleet with limits on sail purchases and boat modifications, the battle is between the sailors and not their pocketbooks. Once the racing is finished, you simply won't find a more welcoming group of sailors. Relax with crew and fellow competitors in the oversized, comfortable cockpit or join in one of the legendary gas-powered blender parties - good times are sure to follow. And the best racers in the class enthusiastically share their knowledge, believing that a stronger fleet makes for better racing for everyone.
