Welcome to the T-Ten National Class Web Site

The T-Ten is a 33' Offshore one-design with strong class rules and a large class membership. The National Championship regularly has more than 25 - 30 boats participating. The boat is also easy to sail and race. This great day-sailing boat with a 9'6" cockpit and an inboard diesel engine. The Tenspeed newsletter  has up-to-date articles, race results and reports on class activities.  In 2001, the class approved the LS-10 to sail one-design with the T-Ten. These new boats were molded and rigged from a classic T-Ten to retain the sailing characteristics in order to race one-design with the existing T-Tens.

2016 T-Ten NAC Reporting

T-Ten NAC Day 4  Final Report by Susan Backus Starr

Ted Pinkerton wins T-10 North American with 19 points! Breaks the curse of the Schrammy!

Consistency on the final day of racing paid off for Edgewater YC's crew on PERFECT.    As in previous days, the team's lowest score in Sunday's 3 races was a fourth...giving them a comfortable 10 point lead over THINK BLUE AGAIN, 29 points, skippered by Lee Sackett.

The sky was overcast and the fleet was refreshed by a brief rain in a westerly wind.   The breeze started at 10-12 knots, oscillating and diminishing, especially during race 7.    Heidi Backus and family won the final race to take third overall and the tie-breaker advantage over fourth place Nick Ward and Greg Kinney from Port Huron on PROPER VILLIAN. Rounding out the top five was Jim and Jayme Ward's WINE SQUALL from Sandusky Sailing Club.

Complete results at yachtscoring.com or the right hand column link on tten.com

As boats are being derigged, the Disbrow family is firing up the grill for Oh Boys...the PERFECT addition to the awards ceremony.

1st Place PERFECT, Ted Pinkerton and Crew                           2nd Place THINK BLUE AGAIN, Lee Sacket and Crew

3rd Place NUTS, Heidi Backus and Crew

T-Ten NAC Day 3 Report by Susan Backus Starr

Big breeze out of the SW made for an exciting 5th race today. (Not quite 2011 Milwaukee). 17 knots, gusts to 28, Lake Erie chop.     A few boats shortened sail to jib only and made good speed to the weather mark. Three of IBall's crew channeled a Michael Phelps's Olympic swim when their lifeline popped them into Lake Erie shortly after the start.
No changes in position on the leader board.  Ted Pinkerton is first with 12 points.

T-Ten NAC Day 2 Report by Susan Backus Starr

A SW wind at 12 knots provided four great races for the Tartan Tens. The fleet chased some dark clouds looking for stronger breeze.   But the rain held off until the end of the day. Consistency paid off for Ted Pinkerton putting together a 3-4-1-1 for a 3 point lead over Lee Sackett.

After a brief recuperation, the teams will fire up the blender at VBC and hope the anticipated Saturday storms don't materialize.

T-Ten NAC Day 1 Report by Susan Backus Starr

23 boats tied for first place at end of Day 1 at NAC's

Scheduled start of 1100 was postponed an hour as PRO Matt Bounds waited for the wind to settle.    A few starts were scratched in final minutes when neither of the dueling fronts could dominate the course.
At 0100 race one was started in 6-8 knots from the NE.  It was a frustrating weather leg with auto tacks and holes.  The fleet was put out of their misery when a 35 degree shift forced the race to be abandoned.   With storms on the horizon, the beer was tapped at 0230.    Next stop - Beaver Park Marina where the Pulsation crew is hosting the fleet for dinner.

2016 T-Ten Chicago Verve Reporting

T-Ten Chicago Verve Day 3 Final Report by Brian Kennalley

Congratulations to Retention, Mark Croll and Crew, 16 points, for sailing a great regatta from start to finish, maintaining their lead for the Verve Cup win! Meat Brian Kennalley, Edward Mui, Craig Roehl, 24 points, finished in second and Skidmarks, Lou Jacobs and Crew, 25 points, for third.

Sunday was a beautiful lighter air day with persistent right shifts that led to some big splits in the fleet. Retention sailed fast and sailed smart to pull out the win.

T-Ten Chicago Verve Day 1 & 2 Report by Brian Kennalley

Racing was abandoned on Friday.  We were under AP in the morning, then the RC sent everyone out at the perfect time to get stormed on and then get called back to shore, so there were no races.

Saturday we got 4 races in with shifting winds all day. Race 3 was particularly interesting with boats reaching straight to the windward mark and straight back to the leeward gate, both ways under jib.

Detail race results at yachtscoring.com.

Retention 1st Place

Congratulations to the winners of the T-Ten Section of the Queens Cup

1st Amateur II, Michael Platzke

2nd Meat, Brian Kennalley

Following Report by Mike Platzke

78.4 nautical miles and almost 23.5 hours of sailing and the Queen's Cup T-10 section was decided by 2 seconds between Amateur II Sailing and Meat, with Lightning another 6 seconds back. Holy cow! I can't imagine there is a more fun fleet in Chicago to race in. Plus, the look on the faces of the race committee as 3 T-10's came barreling into the finish right at the boat was priceless! Congrats to everyone who raced the Queen's Cup/Chicago Regatta this weekend. I don't know if I could handle that weekend every year, but it was fantastic to have the the opportunity to race the Queen's Cup and Chicago Regatta. Thanks to South Shore Yacht Club, St. Joseph River Yacht Club, and Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation for putting on such a wonderful weekend of racing. And special thank you to Brian Kennalley for coordinating the T10 participation in the race.

Winnebago Wins Overall Verve Cup Offshore Trophy

Chicago, IL (August 9, 2015) – Tim Rathbun’s Tartan 10 Winnebago won Chicago Yacht Club’s 2015 Overall Verve Cup Offshore Trophy. This is the second overall win for the program since 2012, with the 23rd edition of this annual event held August 7-9.
